MoC Environmental and Way-finding
Helping people find their way through the Ministry of Culture, with a shared visual language across its offices.
Ministry of Culture 2021Context
One Ministry. Many places to find your way.
Across the Saudi Ministry of Culture?s offices, employees and visitors needed a clearer way to understand their surroundings. Milk Network?s brief brought two tasks together: create a recognizable identity across locations, and make it easier to find departments, floors, and destinations.
The challenge
A shared identity, without losing what makes each department distinct.
Office branding varied between commissions and departments, while navigation lacked a consistent system. People had to work harder to understand where they were and where to go next. The design needed to bring these spaces together while leaving room for the cultural character of each commission.
Our approach
Understand the spaces. Then connect them.
Site visits and employee surveys informed three environmental branding concepts. Each explored how art direction, wall treatments, and interactive elements could express the Ministry?s identity while responding to individual departments and their spaces.
Alongside those concepts, a shared signage system connected the practical moments of a journey: identifying a floor, choosing a direction, and recognizing a destination. Landmarks added memorable reference points. The system was designed for use across offices and for adaptation as the Ministry expands.

- Landmarks
Selected work
Follow the system through the workplace.
Make the place recognizable
Floor identification and commission identities establish where people are within the larger organization.
Connect directions to destinations
Directories, directional signs, and room identifiers carry the wayfinding system from an overview of the space to an individual destination.
Give people something to remember
Landmarks create reference points within the architecture. The final details show how lettering and materials bring the system into the physical space.
Outcome
A framework designed to grow with the Ministry.
The project brings environmental identity, signage, and landmarks into a common framework. Its value lies in how those pieces work together: a recognizable setting, clear directional cues, and room for different departments to retain their character. Adaptability was part of the brief from the start, so the system was designed to extend to future offices and spaces.
